About the role#
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is hiring a Transportation Intern for the Savannah Machinery Works facility. This role supports the logistics team with daily operations, shipment tracking, and administrative tasks. You will gain exposure to supply chain processes, import and export documentation, and transportation analytics while working alongside logistics professionals.
What you'll do#
- Track domestic and international shipments and provide status updates to internal teams.
- Maintain transportation records, shipment logs, and filing systems to ensure data accuracy.
- Help prepare and organize import and export documentation under the guidance of the team.
- Communicate with carriers, vendors, and freight forwarders to gather information and resolve shipment issues.
- Create reports, dashboards, and data analyses focused on transportation performance and expenses.
- Assist with freight invoice reviews, expense reporting, and auditing to support cost management.
- Monitor shipment milestones and proof of delivery documentation.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and other administrative projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, International Business, or Operations Management with a graduation date of May 2027 or later.
- A genuine interest in transportation, logistics, or international trade.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
