About the role#
This internship offers experience in a busy special collections and archival environment. You will participate in daily library operations, work on projects that improve public access to collections, and build professional contacts. The role is part-time and temporary, running from January 19, 2027, to May 23, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist the public at the Library Registration Desk.
- Research using catalogs, search systems, and databases.
- Use library computer software and standard office programs like spreadsheets and documents.
- Select and prioritize collection materials for inclusion in learning tools.
- Shadow staff at various service desks to learn about different library departments.
- Attend three in-person professional development seminars and deliver a final presentation at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- Pursuit of or a completed degree in Library/Info Science, History, Public History, Social Science, or Humanities.
- Experience with primary source research.
Location & details#
- Location: St Paul, Minnesota.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 8 to 15 hours per week, with preferred shifts between Tuesday and Friday, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
