About the role#
As a Clinical Nursing Student in the Site Float Pool, you provide direct patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. This role offers clinical experience and exposure through job shadowing and the provision of care within your scope. You will work as part of a team to support the nursing process and ensure quality care delivery.
What you'll do#
- Support the nurse in the application of the nursing process.
- Provide basic patient care, including hygiene, mobility assistance, feeding, and hydration.
- Record vital signs and participate in patient data collection.
- Act as a liaison between patients and nurses by reporting changes or concerns.
- Collaborate with the RN to develop critical thinking skills.
- Participate in hand-off reports and document patient care accurately.
- Perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
- Utilize clinical technology and escalate concerns through the appropriate chain of command.
- Provide customer service to patients, families, and visitors.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation.
- Ability to clearly communicate with healthcare team members.
- Understanding of nursing processes, safety standards, and infection prevention.
- A compassionate, relationship-based approach to care.
- Accountability for completing assigned tasks.
- Recent experience in acute or long-term care is preferred.
- BLS certification is preferred.
