About the role#
Mercury is hiring Software Engineering Interns for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship lasting 12 to 16 weeks. You will receive mentorship from experienced engineers and contribute to a product used by over 300,000 businesses. During the interview process, you will discuss specific team openings that align with your interests.
What you'll do#
Depending on your focus, you will work across the stack, backend, or frontend. Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with data analysts to spec and build features.
- Provide a backend to mobile and web frontends, such as searching transactions or sending wire transfers.
- Build admin tools to increase the efficiency of support operations.
- Integrate with third-party APIs to perform tasks like sending checks or validating codes.
- Work on UI implementation, including optimizing component performance.
- Utilize TypeScript advanced static typing features.
- Exercise ownership over the product by contributing your own ideas.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an academic program.
- Interest in continually honing your craft.
- Curiosity and a willingness to share your perspective.
- Appreciation for quality in your work.
- Ability to communicate well and write clear explanations of technical decisions.
- Experience using Haskell or a strong desire to learn it.
- Familiarity with SQL.
- Experience using TypeScript (React experience is a plus).

- This role is available in San Francisco, CA, New York, NY, and Portland, OR, or remotely.
- The internship is full-time for 12-16 weeks between January and May 2027.
