About the role#
MEMX is looking for an Information Security Intern for Summer 2027. You will work with our security team to protect our equities and options exchanges. This role provides hands-on experience in cybersecurity operations within the capital markets industry.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and analyze system alerts, logs, and dashboards to identify and mitigate security threats.
- Assist with vulnerability management, including scanning, patch verification, and documentation.
- Help create and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Test new security tools, including AI Security Posture Management.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Infrastructure, and Compliance teams.
- Work on projects related to identity and access management and endpoint security.
- Complete a summer-long project focused on a real-world security challenge and present your findings.
- Share ideas and learn from senior technologists.
What you'll need#
- You are a current undergraduate student entering your junior or senior year.
- You are pursuing a degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- You have a strong interest in cybersecurity, technology, and financial markets.
- You are comfortable working with macOS.
- You have a general understanding of cybersecurity concepts like firewalls, encryption, authentication, and ransomware.
- You possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- You have a curious and collaborative mindset.
- Familiarity with operating systems, networking principles, and cloud environments like AWS or Azure is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship at $30 per hour.
- The role is hybrid, requiring you to work in person at our Midtown Manhattan office during the summer.
- You must maintain permanent residence in one of our approved states for remote work: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, or Utah.
