About the role#
XR Trading is looking for an IT Intern to join our team in Chicago. This is a paid, year-round position. You will work on-site at our office for 20 to 30 hours per week. We are looking for people who enjoy hands-on work with computers, including building and configuring systems. If you have experience building or upgrading your own hardware and enjoy diagnosing technical issues, this role is a fit for you.
What you'll do#
- Install, configure, and maintain PC hardware and operating systems.
- Build, image, and deploy workstations across various models.
- Create and maintain standard PC images.
- Process, monitor, and prioritize trouble tickets.
- Troubleshoot basic TCP/IP issues.
- Manage and maintain technology inventory.
- Install and monitor antivirus software.
- Write or modify basic scripts in Python, JavaScript, or Node.js to automate simple tasks.
- Use company-approved AI tools to support IT tasks and improve efficiency.
- Participate in projects to improve the systems and network environment.
- Support other business initiatives as needed.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with computer hardware, system setup, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like Python, JavaScript, or Node.js.
- A basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- A self-motivated personality and a curiosity about how systems work.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willingness to learn by doing.
- US citizenship (sponsorship is not available).
Location & details#
- This role is based on-site in downtown Chicago, Illinois.
- You must live in the Chicagoland area and be able to commute to the office daily.
- This is a paid internship at $30 per hour.
- Interns are eligible for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) but are not eligible for medical benefits or 401(k).
