About the role#
This paid, full-time summer internship at Lincoln Memorial Hospital provides nursing students with hands-on experience under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. Interns assist in providing age-appropriate care for a designated group of patients by utilizing assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role focuses on developing organizational and critical thinking skills while working closely with nursing staff to monitor patient status.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient care under the direct supervision of an RN.
- Perform basic tasks and care elements within the scope of a Nursing Technician, provided competency has been validated.
- Collaborate with the RN to assimilate and act upon patient data.
- Note: Interns are not permitted to administer medications, add IV fluids, or perform tasks requiring a registered nurse license.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of the junior year in a BSN program or at least two semesters of an ADN nursing program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to position or transfer an average adult patient.
- Ability to withstand prolonged periods of walking and standing.
- Awareness that the role involves exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissues, and contagious diseases.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
