About the role#
This paid internship provides nursing students the opportunity to gain clinical experience under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist in providing age-appropriate care by participating in assessment, planning, and implementation processes. This role focuses on developing your organizational and critical thinking skills while you work alongside experienced staff.
What you'll do#
- Work under the direct supervision of an RN to provide care for a designated group of patients.
- Assimilate and act upon data regarding patient status.
- Perform basic tasks and care elements once competency has been validated, consistent with the Nursing Technician scope of practice.
- Note that this role does not include administering medications, adding IV fluids, or performing tasks that require a registered nurse license.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of your junior year in a BSN program or at least two semesters of an ADN nursing program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to position or transfer an average adult patient.
- Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Awareness that the role involves exposure to blood, bodily fluids, contagious diseases, and potentially hazardous materials.
