About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Meijer, you will work in a community-focused environment to support the pharmacy team. This role involves direct patient interaction, prescription processing, and inventory management. You will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while working under the supervision of a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Communicate with patients in person and over the phone to assist with product selection and provide medication pricing.
- Process and fill prescriptions, including data entry, third-party adjudication, and labeling.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by updating balance on hand, ordering products, and processing vendor transfers or salvage.
- Support clinical services, including health screenings and immunizations, after receiving the necessary training and authorization.
- Assist with daily pharmacy operations such as receiving new prescriptions and managing the Will Call station.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited pharmacy school and a valid state-specific Pharmacy Intern License.
- Strong communication skills, empathy, and a professional appearance.
- Ability to handle tasks with organization and prioritization.
- Foundational knowledge of pharmacy terminology, brand and generic medication names, and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Familiarity with third-party billing, MTM platforms, and pharmacy computer systems.
- A team-oriented mindset with a focus on dependability and patient confidentiality.
