About the role#
This is an 11-week internship program for Summer 2027. You will work on-site in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to support the Government Affairs team. The role focuses on issue advocacy, policy development, and strategic outreach. You will gain experience through real-world projects and interact with senior leadership.
What you'll do#
- Research specific Government Affairs topics and prepare a final presentation for executive leadership.
- Monitor and report on federal, state, and local legislative and regulatory activity.
- Analyze how government policies affect the business.
- Help develop policy agendas and implement advocacy strategies.
- Work with the Communications team to ensure consistent messaging.
- Draft advocacy communications for government officials.
- Attend committee hearings and meetings with officials.
- Build relationships with elected officials and government staff.
- Participate in internal meetings and assist with special projects.
- Travel for business or events as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a four-year college or university.
- Academic focus on Political Science, Pre-Law, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong writing, research, and communication skills.
- Ability to think independently and solve problems.
- Comfort working in a corporate environment with senior executives.
- Capability to manage ambiguity and build new relationships.
- A competitive spirit and emotional intelligence.
