About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in corporate and construction accounting. You will work alongside experienced professionals to learn the day-to-day responsibilities of a Staff Accountant. The role focuses on general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. You will also participate in projects involving data quality, process improvement, and automation using AI-enabled software.
What you'll do#
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Review general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and proper classification.
- Research and resolve account discrepancies.
- Prepare financial reports and analyze operational data for inconsistencies.
- Maintain documentation for accounting transactions.
- Support internal and external audit requests.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure data integrity.
- Participate in data-cleanup initiatives.
- Document accounting processes and update standard operating procedures.
- Assist with accounting systems and ad-hoc projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Completion of introductory accounting coursework.
- Junior or senior standing in your degree program.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including field staff and fabrication shops.
- Strong focus on detail and problem-solving.
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
- Interest in data analytics, automation, and accounting technology.
