About the role#
This is a 10-week summer internship based in Hunt Valley, Maryland. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027. You will join a cross-functional team to standardize and improve food safety, quality systems, and regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment. You will lead 2-3 projects and engage in professional development, including networking with leadership and attending company events.
What you'll do#
- Implement food safety and quality policies and standards.
- Develop and document process improvements.
- Review sanitary design and support capital projects.
- Manage compliance initiatives for FDA nutrition labeling regulations.
- Lead or execute Clean-in-Place (CIP) validation.
- Update site food safety plans, hazard analyses, and procedures.
- Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) analysis and improve system capabilities.
- Resolve quality issues and customer complaints.
- Support new product scale-up and commercialization.
- Assist with daily operations in quality or regulatory affairs.
- Synthesize project outcomes into presentations for leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program.
- Expected graduation date between 6 months and 1 year after the internship ends.
- A degree path in Food Science, Nutrition, Biological & Physical Sciences, or a related field.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and understand quality and regulatory strategy.
- Skill in analyzing data to develop actionable insights.
- Ability to communicate technical information to cross-functional partners.
- Capacity to make decisions using end-to-end thinking and incomplete data.
- Proficiency with technology tools relevant to the field.
- Understanding of quality and regulatory excellence within at least one part of the product lifecycle.
