About the role#
This is a 10-week summer internship based in Geneva, Illinois. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027. You will join a cross-functional team focused on standardizing food safety, quality systems, and regulatory compliance within a manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Lead 2-3 projects focused on site quality and food safety priorities.
- Implement food safety and quality policies and standards.
- Develop and document process improvements.
- Conduct sanitary design reviews and support capital projects.
- Manage compliance initiatives for FDA Nutrition Labeling regulations.
- Lead or execute Clean-in-Place (CIP) validation.
- Update site Food Safety Plans, Hazard Analyses, and related procedures.
- Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) analysis and improve system capabilities.
- Resolve quality issues and customer complaints.
- Support new product scale-up and commercialization.
- Participate in professional development, including 1:1 meetings, job shadowing, and project presentations.
- Attend events such as community service initiatives and social gatherings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program, with a graduation date 6 months to 1 year after the internship ends.
- Enrollment in a degree program for Food Science, Nutrition, Biological & Physical Sciences, or a related field.
- Ability to deliver measurable results through project planning.
- Skill in championing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Capability to synthesize outcomes into clear presentations for leadership.
- Strong prioritization skills and an understanding of quality and regulatory strategy.
- Capacity to make decisions based on incomplete data.
- Ability to analyze data to develop actionable insights.
- Proficiency in communicating technical information and using technology tools.
- Cross-functional acumen across areas like supply chain, product development, or commercialization.
