About the role#
This co-op position is based within the Mastercard Foundry, a global innovation group. The team explores emerging technologies and consumer trends to build scalable products for payments and commerce. You will work alongside software engineers, architects, and data scientists to develop future-focused concepts and gain hands-on experience in research and product incubation.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software solutions.
- Build proof-of-concepts, prototypes, and next-generation products using technologies like AI, cloud computing, and data platforms.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial ideation to operational support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, Experience Design, and Research.
- Apply software engineering best practices, such as code reviews, automated testing, and performance optimization.
- Explore and evaluate new frameworks and tools to drive innovation.
- Present technical findings, demos, and project outcomes to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or accelerated master's program at WashU.
- Major in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- Exposure to algorithms, data structures, AI/Agentic AI, and core computer science concepts.
- Experience with automated tests, source control management, and task management tools.
- Familiarity with debugging tools such as stack traces and memory profiling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: O'Fallon, Missouri (St. Louis Tech Hub).
- Modality: Hybrid (must be in office at least 3 days per week).
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 to May 2027).
- Schedule: Full time, 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: $34 per hour.
