About the role#
The ODSP PHY software team at Marvell develops networking PAM4 DSPs used in data center optical modules. These products support data rates from 100G to 1.6T and are used in major cloud data centers globally. As an intern, you will join a team that manages all software components interacting with these DSPs, including embedded firmware, customer SDKs, lab testing, and quality assurance.
What you'll do#
- Write embedded C firmware to control complex DSP hardware.
- Create C and Python test code for utilities, GUIs, regression, and simulation infrastructure.
- Manage features from initial concept through design, review, implementation, and customer release.
- Build mission critical features for cloud customers.
- Debug technical issues and work with hardware and software teams to identify root causes.
- Track and resolve bug reports using Jira.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS degree program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of relevant course work.
- Strong programming skills in C and Python.
- Knowledge of git, Linux, makefiles, gdb, IDEs, and bash.
- Understanding of software development workflows including Jira, SCM, code reviews, continuous integration, and regression testing.
- Familiarity with computer and processor architecture, including how processors interact with memory and peripherals.
- Understanding of fundamental networking concepts based on the OSI model.
- Ability to explain your problem-solving process clearly in English.
- Curiosity and a drive to learn.
- Experience with MCU embedded processor environments is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools is a plus.

- Compensation: Paid position, ranging from $32 to $43 CAD per hour.
