About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will work on projects to develop processes, tooling, and fixturing for advanced automation equipment. You will be responsible for tasks that impact production lines and contribute to the development of new manufacturing techniques. This role requires access to information controlled under Export Administration Regulations and International Traffic in Arms Regulations. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other protected individual as defined by federal law.
What you'll do#
- Develop automated die attach, ultrasonic wire bonding, and epoxy lid attach processes.
- Use AutoCAD or SolidWorks to design and document new fixtures, tooling, and processes for high-mix manufacturing lines.
- Prototype tooling and fixturing using 3D printing and quick lead time machine shops.
- Collaborate with Production and Quality Assurance teams to document new processes and procedures.
- Brainstorm solutions for mechanical, electrical, process, and automation problems.
- Manage your priorities and communicate regularly with your manager regarding progress and challenges.
- Present your results to the team at the end of the internship.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student (Junior or Sophomore) in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or industrial engineering.
- Minimum 2.8 GPA.
- Experience with hand or power tooling.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to team goals.
- Strong data analysis skills and a logical approach to problem solving.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to handle changing priorities and assignments.
- Experience in the following areas is preferred: machine shop equipment (mills, lathes, CNC), 3D CAD software, 3D printing, project management tools, production automation, computer-controlled machinery, RF component production, and Design of Experiments.
