About the role#
Lumentum is looking for a Software Verification Engineer intern to join the R&D Software Design Verification team in Ottawa. You will work on software and hardware systems that support optical switching technology. This role is open for Winter, Summer, and Fall 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Develop automated solutions for next generation optical switches.
- Collect and analyze test data to improve product quality and performance.
- Solve complex technical problems.
- Collaborate with the Optical, Hardware, Software, Firmware, Design Authority, and Project Management R&D teams.
- Analyze and characterize device failures.
What you'll need#
- At least 2 years of progress toward a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
- Current enrollment in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Strong skills in object-oriented software design and implementation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- This position is based on-site in Ottawa, Ontario.
- The role is a paid, full-time internship.
- Candidates must be eligible to complete a background check.
