About the role#
The Government Relations team at LPL Financial is seeking an intern for the summer of 2027. You will join a team that manages public policy, regulatory, and community relations efforts. This role involves coordinating with internal stakeholders to assess governmental risks and opportunities while determining the company position on key policy issues. You will gain exposure to federal, state, and local advocacy and political operations.
What you'll do#
- Support the development and execution of strategies to achieve public policy objectives.
- Collaborate with the team to create strategic plans for long and short-term goals, including monitoring progress with clear metrics.
- Influence public policy by monitoring government initiatives and advocating for specific policies.
- Prepare policy briefings, testimony for legislative actions, and thought leadership documents.
- Coordinate in-district events and visits to home offices by elected officials.
- Manage ad hoc projects and tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or May 2028.
- Interest in government relations, public policy, or community relations.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a matrix environment.
- Strong influencing, planning, organization, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to handle politically sensitive policy issues, resolve conflicts, and meet deadlines.
- Successful background screening.
Location & details#
- Location: Washington, DC.
- Commitment: Full-time for 10 weeks, from June 1, 2027, to August 6, 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid, with an agreement to be local to the Washington DC office.
- Compensation: $25 per hour.
