About the role#
Louisiana Blue is hiring a Healthcare Data Science Intern to support our Healthcare Analytics & Data Science team. You will work on data-driven solutions that help us understand and improve healthcare delivery. This role focuses on predictive modeling, machine learning, and generative AI to assist with patient outcomes, provider performance, and medical cost optimization.
What you'll do#
- Build statistical, predictive, and machine learning models for patient utilization and provider performance.
- Work with large datasets to perform data wrangling, feature engineering, and exploratory analysis.
- Contribute to generative AI projects that automate insights or improve internal processes.
- Partner with business stakeholders to turn analytical findings into clear, actionable insights.
- Collaborate with IT teams to support model deployment and the development of analytic tools.
- Document your modeling methods, assumptions, and results in a professional manner.
- Assist with projects related to risk adjustment and engagement analytics.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- You are a senior undergraduate, recent graduate, or graduate student with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- A working knowledge of Python for data analysis, including libraries like pandas and NumPy.
- Experience working in notebook-based environments such as Databricks or Jupyter.
- Foundational SQL skills for querying, joining, and transforming data.
- Introductory experience with machine learning concepts and Python-based libraries like scikit-learn.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to analyze and communicate data.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to work well within a collaborative team.
- Coursework in machine learning, statistics, or programming is preferred.
