About the role#
The Provider Dispute Support Specialist Intern will join our team for the Winter 2027 term. This is a paid, part-time position based on-site in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. You will assist the Provider Disputes team with administrative operations, record keeping, and case management.
What you'll do#
- Support the intake, tracking, assignment, and distribution of provider dispute cases and related correspondence.
- Maintain accurate records for incoming cases, referrals, and internal communications.
- Assist management with reporting, administrative tasks, and case monitoring.
- Navigate healthcare systems and claims platforms to research and process disputes and appeals.
- Collaborate with internal departments including Provider Services, Member Services, Utilization Management, and Legal.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an Associate Degree or specialized technical education in Medical Billing and Coding or a related field.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5, though a 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail when maintaining records.
- Experience in a healthcare payer, managed care, or insurance environment is a plus.
- Familiarity with systems like Facets or Epic is helpful, as is knowledge of healthcare claims processing and regulatory requirements.
