About the role#
Live Oak Bank is hiring an intern for our Small Business Banking team. This is a 10-week, on-site program based at our headquarters in Wilmington, North Carolina. You will gain hands-on experience in the medical financing industry by identifying opportunities to connect with medical professionals and practices.
What you'll do#
- Research medical shows, events, study groups, and speaking engagements nationwide.
- Identify key stakeholders for potential financing opportunities.
- Help inform medical professionals about available financing options.
- Prepare and organize call logs to track outreach and client follow-ups.
- Research potential sponsorship opportunities that align with our goals.
- Participate in weekly check-ins with your manager to provide updates and receive guidance.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfort working with documents, spreadsheets, and technology platforms.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
- Interest in banking, lending, and small business growth.
- Coursework in finance, accounting, or business analysis is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial statements like balance sheets and cash flow statements is a plus.
- Previous experience through internships, leadership roles, volunteer work, or student organizations.

- Compensation: $19.77 - $32.12 per hour
