Co-Op, Software Product Management

About the role#

Lila Sciences is seeking a Software Product Management Co-Op for the Fall 2026 term. This role operates at the intersection of science, software engineering, and product management. You will support the development of our scientific software platform by translating complex user needs into actionable requirements, helping to connect designs, data, and research outcomes.

What you'll do#

• Shadow scientists and other users to understand their specific software and workflow needs.
• Collaborate with product, science, and engineering partners to groom product backlogs.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into clear user stories and defined acceptance criteria.
• Triage recurring user requests and convert them into actionable tickets.
• Partner with engineers and scientists to clarify requirements and assess workflow impact.
• Own a small, scoped feature or workflow improvement from the initial discovery phase through final delivery.

What you'll need#

• Interest in product management, scientific workflows, lab operations, or software systems.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to turn ambiguity into clear requirements.
• Comfort working with cross-functional teams across science, product, and engineering.
• Ability to observe workflows, ask thoughtful questions, and synthesize user needs.
• An organized approach to tracking tasks, decisions, and follow-ups.
• Curiosity regarding how software can improve experimental throughput, traceability, and data quality.
• Preferred majors include Computer Science, Data Science, Biology, Business Administration, Operations Management, or Psychology.
