About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship program based in Chicago. It runs for approximately 10 weeks, from May 25 through August 4, 2027. You will work in an hourly role within a restaurant, gaining direct experience in operations while completing a structured program.
What you'll do#
- Perform essential functions of hourly roles, such as host, server, runner, busser, or cook.
- Ensure the guest experience exceeds expectations by greeting guests with a sincere smile.
- Use tact and good judgment when handling guest challenges.
- Participate in weekly seminars, management checklists, and feedback sessions.
- Complete a restaurant concept project and present it at the Intern Expo.
- Engage in summer festivals and group events.
- Follow all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.
- Safely operate all necessary tools and equipment.
What you'll need#
- At least one year of hospitality experience.
- Ability to work all days of the Windy City Smokeout festival from July 8 to July 11, 2027.
- Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds, frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to multitask calmly in a busy environment.
