About the role#
This is a paid, full-time Culinary BOH Internship Level 1 with Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants. The program runs for approximately 10 weeks, from May 25 through August 4, 2027. You will work on-site in Chicago, Illinois.
What you'll do#
- Perform the essential functions of hourly roles such as cook, server, runner, busser, or host.
- Participate in weekly educational seminars covering topics like restaurant financials, menu creation, and marketing.
- Complete management checklists and provide feedback throughout the program.
- Work on a restaurant concept project and present your findings at the Intern Expo.
- Participate in summer festivals, including mandatory attendance at the Windy City Smokeout.
- Safely operate all necessary kitchen and restaurant tools and equipment.
- Work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Greet guests and ensure their experience exceeds expectations.
- Use tact and judgment to resolve guest challenges.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and company policies.
- Multitask in a busy environment and work effectively as a team player.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a culinary program or 1 year of practical experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively through written and spoken direction.
- Ability to stand for an entire shift and move safely through restaurant spaces.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Experience with Italian or French cuisine is a plus.
