About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in restaurant operations and culinary work. The program runs for approximately 10 weeks, from May 25 through August 4, 2027. You will work in an hourly capacity at a restaurant location while participating in a structured educational curriculum.
What you'll do#
- Perform hourly job functions including host, server, runner, busser, or cook duties as assigned.
- Participate in and complete weekly educational seminars covering topics like restaurant financials, menu creation, and marketing.
- Complete management checklists and receive performance feedback.
- Work on a restaurant concept project and present your findings at the Intern Expo.
- Participate in summer festivals, including the Windy City Smokeout.
- Safely operate all necessary restaurant tools and equipment.
- Work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Ensure the guest experience exceeds expectations while following all safety and sanitation guidelines.
What you'll need#
- At least 1 year of practical experience or current enrollment in a culinary program.
- Experience with Italian or French cuisine is a plus.
- Ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for the duration of a shift.
- Ability to navigate restaurant spaces, including stairs and slick surfaces.
