About the role#
As a Purina Feed Sales Intern, you will work directly with local dealers and cooperatives to drive growth and support customer engagement. You will spend your summer in the field, turning animal nutrition knowledge into customer conversations. This role provides an opportunity to learn the dealer and cooperative business model while supporting territory growth through species-specific nutrition solutions. You will receive training and mentorship from Purina Animal Nutrition experts throughout the program.
What you'll do#
- Partner with dealers or cooperatives to identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, such as introducing new products or reactivating dormant customers.
- Build a sales pipeline by researching and engaging prospective customers within targeted species segments.
- Analyze customer buying patterns to develop recommendations and increase the adoption of Purina nutrition solutions.
- Evaluate local markets, customer trends, and competitive activity to uncover growth opportunities.
- Participate in farm visits, customer meetings, educational events, feed trials, and producer programs to support customer success.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field, with junior status preferred.
- Understanding of animal husbandry, nutrition, and feed management practices.
- Strong communication, writing, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage your time, prioritize tasks, and work independently on projects.
- Demonstrated leadership in academic or industry-related clubs.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs and work in farm environments.
- A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Previous sales or customer-facing experience is preferred.

- Term: Summer 2027 (May to August).
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time.
- Locations: Opportunities are available throughout the West Region, including California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska.
- Requirements: You must be able to live within commuting range of your assigned dealer or cooperative location.
