About the role#
As a Feed Sales Intern with Purina Animal Nutrition, you will work directly with local dealers and cooperatives to support territory growth. This field-based position focuses on turning animal nutrition knowledge into customer interactions and business results. You will receive training and mentorship from Purina experts while gaining experience in the dealer and cooperative business model. This is a full-time, paid internship running from May to August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Partner with dealers and cooperatives to identify growth opportunities, introduce new products, and reactivate dormant accounts.
- Build a qualified sales pipeline by researching and engaging prospective customers.
- Analyze customer buying patterns to develop recommendations for expanded use of Purina nutrition solutions.
- Evaluate local markets, customer trends, and competitive activity to uncover growth opportunities.
- Engage directly with producers through farm visits, customer meetings, educational events, feed trials, and producer programs.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field, with junior status preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership in school, academic, or industry-related clubs.
- An understanding of animal husbandry, nutrition, and feed management practices.
- Strong communication, writing, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and implement projects independently.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to adapt to changing business environments.
- Previous sales or customer-facing experience is preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in farm environments.
- A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Must be able to live within commuting range of the assigned dealer or cooperative location.

- This is an on-site role based in the East Region of the United States.
- Potential locations include Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
- Placement is determined by business needs and market demand.
