About the role#
As a Feed Sales Intern, you will work directly with local Purina dealers and cooperatives to connect animal nutrition products with producers. This field-based position focuses on territory growth, customer engagement, and understanding the dealer business model. You will receive training and mentorship from Purina Animal Nutrition experts while working on projects that support sales and business development. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Partner with dealers and cooperatives to grow existing customer accounts and identify new business opportunities.
- Build a sales pipeline by researching and engaging prospective customers.
- Analyze customer buying patterns to recommend specific nutrition solutions.
- Evaluate local market trends and competitive activity to uncover growth potential.
- Participate in farm visits, customer meetings, educational events, and feed trials.
- Support initiatives to increase the adoption of key Purina products.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, or a related field, with junior status preferred.
- Understanding of animal husbandry, nutrition, and feed management practices.
- Strong communication, writing, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time, and prioritize tasks.
- Demonstrated leadership in academic or industry-related clubs.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in farm environments.
- A valid, unrestricted driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
- Previous sales or customer-facing experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role. You must live within commuting range of your assigned dealer or cooperative location.
- Opportunities are available in Wisconsin, West Virginia, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York.
- The internship runs from May to August 2027.
