About the role#
As a Purina Feed Sales Intern, you will work within the Southwest region to turn animal nutrition knowledge into customer results. You will work alongside local sales representatives, dealer leaders, and Purina team members to support territory growth and species-specific nutrition solutions. This is a field-based role where you will learn the dealer and cooperative business model while supporting customer engagement.
What you'll do#
- Partner with dealers or cooperatives to identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, such as introducing new products or reactivating dormant customers.
- Identify, research, and engage prospective customers to build a qualified sales pipeline.
- Analyze customer buying patterns to develop recommendations for product adoption.
- Evaluate local markets, customer trends, and competitive activity to uncover untapped opportunities.
- Engage directly with producers through farm visits, customer meetings, educational events, feed trials, and producer programs.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field, with junior status preferred.
- Understanding of animal husbandry, nutrition, and feed management practices.
- Strong communication, writing, and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and implement projects independently.
- Demonstrated leadership in school, academic, or industry-related clubs.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in farm environments.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Previous sales or customer-facing experience is preferred.
- A collaborative mindset with openness to feedback and learning.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027, running from May through August.
- Placements are available in Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas, and New Mexico.
- This role is on-site, and you must live within commuting range of your assigned dealer or cooperative location.
