About the role#
As a Feed Sales Intern, you will work directly with Purina dealers and cooperatives to turn animal nutrition knowledge into customer results. This field-based role focuses on territory growth, dealer business models, and species-specific nutrition solutions. You will receive training and mentorship from Purina Animal Nutrition experts while working alongside local sales teams to support producers. This is a full-time, paid position for the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Partner with dealers to find growth opportunities within current customer accounts.
- Research and engage prospective customers to build a sales pipeline.
- Analyze customer buying patterns to recommend specific Purina nutrition solutions.
- Evaluate local market trends and competitive activity to support future growth strategies.
- Participate in farm visits, customer meetings, feed trials, and educational producer programs.
- Manage independent projects designed to develop your sales skills and support business performance.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Agribusiness, or a related field, with junior status preferred.
- Understanding of animal husbandry, nutrition, and feed management practices.
- Strong communication, writing, and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and work independently.
- Demonstrated leadership in academic or industry-related clubs.
- Collaborative mindset with an openness to feedback.
- Previous sales or customer-facing experience is a plus.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work in farm environments.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site internship for Summer 2027.
- Placements are available in Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, Iowa, and Illinois.
- You must be able to live within commuting range of your assigned dealer or cooperative location.
