About the role#
Lake Superior Consulting is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. Based in our Duluth office, this role provides exposure to both office-based design work and hands-on field activities. You will work alongside experienced professionals to learn company procedures, client standards, and the full project lifecycle from design to implementation.
What you'll do#
- Develop and revise engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare layouts based on project requirements and established design standards.
- Organize project documentation and assist with engineering deliverables.
- Support field operations at pipeline and project facilities, including equipment identification, tagging, and documentation.
- Incorporate field findings and project data into drawings by coordinating with design teams.
- Travel to project sites as needed, including field assignments lasting up to two weeks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering program with at least 2 years of coursework completed.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to learn new processes quickly.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Previous design or operating experience is preferred.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various weather conditions.
