About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work directly with our pharmacy team to support patient care and store operations. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient department. You will assist in daily pharmacy tasks, interact with patients, and gain hands-on experience under the supervision of licensed pharmacists.
What you'll do#
- Provide exceptional service to ensure customers feel welcome and valued.
- Answer customer questions regarding products and provide recommendations for over-the-counter medications.
- Input patient and prescription data into the pharmacy system accurately.
- Accept and interpret prescriptions, dispense medications, and facilitate charge purchases.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking, stocking, and organizing medication orders.
- Ensure the department remains clean and adheres to all quality assurance standards.
- Assist the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or prescription incidents to management immediately.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment while managing conflict in a professional manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling business and customer information.
- Capability to provide support to diverse groups, including older adults, minors, and individuals with special needs.
- Ability to follow instructions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
