About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Meijer, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail setting. This role involves supporting the pharmacy team with daily operations, patient care, and inventory management. This is a part-time, paid position with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Provide customer service by communicating with patients in person and over the phone.
- Assist patients with product selection and provide medication pricing.
- Process and fill prescriptions using the pharmacy computer system for data entry and third-party adjudication.
- Manage prescription workflow, including pulling products, counting, labeling, and selling prescriptions at the Will Call station.
- Handle inventory tasks such as updating balance on hand, ordering products, checking in orders, and processing transfers or salvage.
- Support clinical services, including health screenings and immunizations, under the supervision of a pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited pharmacy school.
- Valid state-specific Pharmacy Intern License.
- Strong communication, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations and use basic math.
- Knowledge of brand and generic medication names, pharmacy terminology, and dosage forms.
- Familiarity with third-party billing, prescription split billing, and MTM platforms.
- Professional appearance, empathy, and a team-oriented mindset.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and dependability.
- Ability to perform health screenings and immunizations after receiving proper training and authorization.
