About the role#
This is an 11-week internship program based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for Summer 2027. You will join the Meijer Construction team in a dual-path role that combines hands-on project management with construction analytics. You will work alongside project managers and the Cost Planning and Analytics team to support active retail construction projects. This experience provides insight into the project lifecycle and how data and technology improve construction delivery.
What you'll do#
- Partner with Construction Project Managers on active projects, including site visits and field activities.
- Assist with project schedules, budgets, documentation, status reporting, and closeout activities.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, general contractors, vendors, and internal partners.
- Analyze construction cost, schedule, and portfolio data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Support dashboards, KPIs, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Improve data quality and reporting using Excel, Power BI, and AI.
- Translate observations into practical recommendations for project teams and leadership.
- Complete a summer project connecting project delivery with analytics and present your findings to senior executives.
What you'll need#
- Progress toward a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Power BI.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to interpret complex data.
- A focus on results and meeting the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with team members and leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills and high attention to detail.
