About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support our pharmacy team in delivering accurate care and service to our customers. This role focuses on maintaining a safe environment and ensuring that patients receive the correct medications and information. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide clinical support and assist with daily pharmacy operations.
What you'll do#
- Create a welcoming environment by answering customer questions about products throughout the store.
- Gain and maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical products to discuss with customers and prescribers.
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system and dispense correct medications.
- Process third-party insurance information and contact insurance companies or prescribers as needed.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for new fills or refills.
- Provide immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by comparing, checking, and stocking incoming orders and returning unused stock.
- Maintain a clean department and report any safety risks, issues, or illegal activities.
- Notify management or the pharmacist on duty regarding accidents or prescription incidents.
- Provide support to diverse customer groups, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A valid state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-volume environment.
- Skills to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and professional manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding all business and customer information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Capacity to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
