About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work on-site to provide essential support within our pharmacy department. You will assist the department manager in meeting sales goals while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all customers. This role requires a commitment to honesty, integrity, and the ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
What you'll do#
- Provide exceptional service to create an outstanding customer experience.
- Input patient and prescription data accurately into the pharmacy system.
- Dispense correct medications and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Discuss pharmaceutical products and over-the-counter recommendations with customers and prescribers.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage insurance claims by processing third-party information and contacting insurance companies.
- Coordinate with prescribers to obtain necessary authorizations.
- Handle inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused medication bottles.
- Maintain safety standards by reporting risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Assist diverse groups, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
- Capability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
