About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will help create a welcoming environment for customers while supporting the daily operations of the pharmacy department. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide care, manage prescriptions, and assist with store inventory. This role requires a commitment to safety, honesty, and professional integrity.
What you'll do#
- Welcome customers and answer questions about products sold in the store.
- Input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Dispense medication and provide drug counseling to customers.
- Assist with over the counter medication recommendations.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to handle authorizations and claims.
- Process prescriptions and facilitate customer purchases.
- Provide immunizations under pharmacist supervision.
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and organize incoming stock orders.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management immediately.
- Support diverse populations, including older adults and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Skill in managing conflict in a calm and professional manner.
- Ability to follow directions and seek help when needed.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
