About the role#
KIHOMAC is hiring a Welding Intern to join our Precision Manufacturing Group in Layton, Utah. This is a paid, on-site, full-time position. You will support our aerospace manufacturing operations by assisting with daily welding tasks, equipment maintenance, and administrative documentation. This role requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
What you'll do#
- Support welders by preparing parts, fixtures, and tooling for aerospace projects.
- Learn and assist with TIG welding on aluminum, stainless steel, and titanium components under supervision.
- Perform basic welds, tacks, and joint preparation following engineering drawings.
- Inspect finished components for quality using gauges and measurement tools.
- Maintain welding equipment and ensure shop areas meet 5S standards.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including updating process sheets, quality logs, and travelers.
- Shadow senior welders and engineers to learn about aerospace standards like AS9100 and NADCAP.
What you'll need#
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a post-high school program for welding technology or a related manufacturing field.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, including document formatting and comments.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- A willingness to learn new software, processes, and documentation standards.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate hand tools and machine controls while wearing required safety gear.
Location & details#
- Location: Layton, Utah.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 15 to 25 hours per week during the term, with 40 hours during summer sessions.
- Salary: $17 to $18 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
