About the role#
Kentucky Blood Center is hiring a Communications & Marketing Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This part-time position offers hands-on experience in storytelling and content creation while supporting our work to provide blood products to hospitals across the Commonwealth. You will work closely with our media and branding team to build your portfolio through daily assignments and professional mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Shoot, edit, and produce videos for our digital platforms.
- Create short-form video content for social media.
- Assist with the development of storytelling strategies.
- Interview blood donors and recipients.
- Support the production of printed marketing materials.
- Help with general publicity tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program, preferably in Marketing, Communications, or Journalism.
- Minimum age of 18.
- A valid driver's license, a good driving record, and reliable transportation for travel to events.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Premiere Pro.
- Familiarity with Photoshop and After Effects is a plus.
- A background in video production and social media content creation.
- Working knowledge of current social media platforms and best practices.
- Successful completion of pre-employment screenings, including a background check and drug test.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role based in Lexington, Kentucky.
- The internship runs from approximately May 11th to August 20th, 2027.
- The schedule is flexible for up to 15 hours per week.
- This is a paid position at $12 per hour, and you may also receive class credit.
About Kentucky Blood Center
Kentucky Blood Center is a community-based nonprofit organization founded in 1968. It provides blood products to more than 70 hospitals across Kentucky. The organization relies on volunteer donors to collect 400 pints of blood daily. It maintains eight donor centers and employs between 201 and 500 people.
