    About the role#

    The Coordinator, Advocacy and Student Programs mobilizes young people and communities to support access to sexual and reproductive health care. You will identify key constituencies, develop mobilizing strategies, and manage student advocacy programs for high schools and colleges. This role advances the mission of Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic through community collaboration, volunteer engagement, and outreach.

    What you'll do#

    • Manage and supervise Planned Parenthood Generation Action programs.
    • Serve as the liaison with PPFA regarding youth advocacy efforts.
    • Support outreach events on college campuses to educate and activate students.
    • Manage the High School Advocacy Program and student volunteer activities like canvassing and phone banks.
    • Organize the annual Youth Lobby event.
    • Participate in community outreach and engagement events to build an activist base.
    • Manage short-term advocacy projects such as voter engagement and legislative campaigns.
    • Build and retain partnerships with allied organizations and represent the affiliate at meetings and coalitions.
    • Assist in developing the annual Advocacy and Government Relations work plan.
    • Collaborate with Communications, Development, and Education departments to organize special events.
    • Develop presentations about legislation and policy, and speak on reproductive health issues to diverse audiences.
    • Support the efforts of the Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic Action Fund.

    What you'll need#

    • Experience mobilizing young people and communities to support sexual and reproductive health care.
    • Ability to identify key constituencies and create mobilizing strategies.
    • Skills in managing student advocacy programs for high schools and colleges.
    • Experience with community collaboration, volunteer engagement, and outreach.
    • Ability to speak on sexual and reproductive health and rights issues to wide audiences.
