About the role#
JRM Construction Management offers a 10-week summer internship program designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the construction industry. Interns work alongside professionals in both office and field settings. The program runs from June through August and focuses on practical skill development through departmental work, site visits, and team-based research projects.
What you'll do#
Your responsibilities will vary based on your assigned focus area, either Field Operations or Estimating.
- Assist in maintaining daily logs, site reports, photos, and progress documentation.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, and document control.
- Support inspections, punch lists, and quality documentation.
- Observe and support trade coordination and construction sequencing.
- Attend project meetings, coordination meetings, and inspections.
- Perform quantity takeoffs, pricing analyses, and cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain subcontractor lists, supplier information, and estimating databases.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Support bid preparation, tender documentation, and value engineering reviews.
What you'll need#
- You are currently a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering/Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- A demonstrated interest in construction management and a willingness to learn.
- Previous exposure to construction projects through work experience, internships, or trade-based roles.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position based in New York, New York.
- The role is fully on-site, five days per week.
- The hourly pay rate is $22.00 per hour.
- This position does not offer sponsorship.
