About the role#
This R&D Co-Op position is based in Raritan, New Jersey, within the Ethicon business. You will join a team of engineers and scientists focused on new product development for wound closure and healing, with a specific interest in antibacterial technologies and cardiovascular surgery. This is a full-time, on-site role.
What you'll do#
- Perform hands-on work in engineering laboratories.
- Use machining processes to build and evaluate novel medical devices.
- Participate in Voice-of-Customer labs with surgeons.
- Design project studies and test prototype devices.
- Write test protocols, generate final reports, and document meeting minutes.
- Collaborate with engineers and outside suppliers.
- Create 3D models and use 3D printing to develop test methods and fixtures.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Current status as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior student.
- Minimum GPA of 2.8, with 3.0 preferred.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) on-site.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must have reliable daily transportation to and from the work site.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship.
