About the role#
The Student Financial Services Specialist acts as the primary point of contact for students and families. You will provide guidance on financial aid, billing, and payment processes. This role requires maintaining accurate student records and supporting daily office operations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and college requirements.
What you'll do#
- Serve as an initial resource for students, families, and campus partners regarding financial aid programs, tuition rates, and payment deadlines.
- Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person visits.
- Perform financial aid processing, including reviewing applications for completeness and preparing records for verification.
- Process student account transactions such as cash, checks, and credit card payments.
- Reconcile daily activity and balance cash drawers.
- Administer payroll deduction arrangements for employees and graduate students.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and other necessary documentation.
- Maintain and update student information within the college database systems.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- One to three years of relevant experience in a college student service environment, financial setting, or customer service role.
- Proficiency with common office applications like word processing and spreadsheets.
- Clear and professional communication skills.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Capacity to handle sensitive information with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Experience using an online student information system is preferred.
