About the role#
Invenergy offers a Summer 2027 internship program for engineering students. You will join one of our various engineering departments to support the technical design, evaluation, and construction of commercial and utility-scale power projects. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago. You will work alongside cross-functional teams and gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy industry.
What you'll do#
- Manage initiatives supporting project design and construction.
- Evaluate project constraints and design optimal layouts using CAD and GIS software.
- Analyze meteorological datasets and model expected energy production.
- Design site measurement campaigns and conduct site visits for evaluation.
- Interface with OEMs for wind, battery, inverter, and transformer equipment.
- Collaborate with development, finance, environmental, and project management teams.
- Participate in landowner meetings, community outreach, and construction meetings.
- Assist with federal, state, and local permitting efforts.
- Support the engineering and construction of transmission lines.
- Analyze real-time operational data for active plants to improve equipment reliability.
- Develop dashboards, analytics, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Support end-of-warranty inspections and maintenance evaluations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program.
- Graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Major in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or a related engineering discipline.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Demonstrated interest in the energy sector.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.
