About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Chicago. You will work across various electrical engineering departments to support the technical design, evaluation, and construction of commercial and utility-scale energy projects.
What you'll do#
- Develop power system models, including power flow, dynamic, and EMT models.
- Support engineers with the design and analysis of inverters and plant controllers.
- Review regulatory requirements and industry standards such as IEEE and NERC.
- Contribute to the development of automation tools and workflows.
- Perform power flow analysis for generation and transmission activities.
- Review interconnection study reports and equipment rating reports.
- Build algorithms to triangulate engineering data across databases.
- Organize substation maintenance schedules.
- Compose position papers on power engineering, AI, and NERC matters.
- Support staff with the creation and delivery of training materials.
- Analyze data to support program metrics and compliance determinations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program with an expected graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
- Major in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems Engineering.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in the energy sector is preferred.
