    About the role#

    This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Chicago. You will work across various electrical engineering departments to support the technical design, evaluation, and construction of commercial and utility-scale energy projects.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop power system models, including power flow, dynamic, and EMT models.
    • Support engineers with the design and analysis of inverters and plant controllers.
    • Review regulatory requirements and industry standards such as IEEE and NERC.
    • Contribute to the development of automation tools and workflows.
    • Perform power flow analysis for generation and transmission activities.
    • Review interconnection study reports and equipment rating reports.
    • Build algorithms to triangulate engineering data across databases.
    • Organize substation maintenance schedules.
    • Compose position papers on power engineering, AI, and NERC matters.
    • Support staff with the creation and delivery of training materials.
    • Analyze data to support program metrics and compliance determinations.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a 4-year Bachelor’s degree program with an expected graduation date between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
    • Major in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems Engineering.
    • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer visa sponsorship.
    • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
    • Demonstrated interest in the energy sector is preferred.

    • Duration: 10 to 12 weeks, starting late May or early June through August
