About the role#
The Youth Programs Intern supports school specialists and mentoring staff to help youth and their families reach academic, vocational, and social integration goals. This position involves direct interaction with the refugee community and requires coordination with local schools and administrative support. The intern reports to the Youth Programs Supervisor.
What you'll do#
- Attend the initial volunteer and intern orientation.
- Assist with planning and coordinating activities like after-school tutoring, college prep workshops, and field trips.
- Help families with preschool and school enrollments, including completing paperwork and delivering forms.
- Provide transportation for clients and their families to various appointments.
- Manage administrative tasks such as filing, phone calls, and data entry.
- Record your hours and submit a timesheet each month.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or master’s degree program.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in working with the refugee community.
- A valid driver’s license, a personal car, and car insurance.
- Flexibility to accommodate client needs, including occasional evening or weekend availability.
- Ability to converse in a client language is strongly preferred.
