About the role#
The Youth Programs Intern supports youth and their families in achieving their academic, vocational, and social integration goals. This position works under the supervision of the Youth Programs Supervisor and collaborates with School Specialists and the Mentoring Specialist. The role involves administrative tasks, coordination with local schools, and providing transportation for clients.
What you'll do#
- Attend the Volunteer and Intern Orientation.
- Plan and coordinate activities, including after-school tutoring, college prep workshops, and monthly outings or field trips.
- Provide administrative support such as phone calls, filing, data entry, and processing paperwork.
- Assist families with preschool and school enrollments, including completing paperwork and delivering forms to schools.
- Provide transportation for clients and their families to appointments.
- Record hours and submit a completed timesheet at the end of each month.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or master’s degree program.
- Strong interpersonal skills and an interest in working with the refugee community.
- Ownership of a car, a valid driver’s license, and car insurance.
- Ability to be flexible and accommodate client needs.
- Availability for occasional evening or weekend activities.
- Fluency in a client language is strongly preferred.
