About the role#
The Development Intern supports the Development Team in raising funds for programs at the International Rescue Committee in New York and New Jersey. This role focuses on growing the private fundraising portfolio through prospecting, donor stewardship, communications, and event support. This is an unpaid, full-time internship position.
What you'll do#
- Maintain and update the client story catalog in accordance with the Development Storytelling Strategy.
- Collaborate with program departments to curate stories and case studies.
- Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, including the development of donor communication assets like annual reports and welcome packets.
- Support event planning by tracking RSVPs and assisting with briefings and post-event activities.
- Prepare deliverable sheets and maintain the grant tracker to support private grant management.
- Conduct prospecting for individuals, foundations, and corporations.
- Perform administrative tasks as needed, including occasional in-person responsibilities at the New York City office.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary institution or graduation within the last 2 years.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with or interest in fundraising strategies.
- Knowledge of grants management.
- Ability to maintain and update a catalog of client stories.
- Academic background in Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, Political Science, or Sociology is preferred.
