The Immigration Legal Team Intern supports the delivery of services to refugees, asylees, and other immigrants. This role involves working directly with immigration staff to facilitate legal processes, including adjustment of status, citizenship, and pro-se asylum cases. This is an unpaid, on-site internship based in New York, NY.
What you'll do#
- Assist immigration staff in providing essential services to clients.
- Draft legal applications and manage follow-up communication with clients.
- Perform clerical and administrative duties to maintain accurate, up-to-date client files.
- Help manage client cases to ensure all tasks are completed within established deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a post-secondary institution or graduation within the last 2 years.
- Academic background in Political Science, International Relations, Human Resources, Sociology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data tracking, and file management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently while exercising good judgment.
- A strong desire to assist the immigrant community in New York.
