About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in plant operations at our manufacturing facility in Sumas, Washington. You will work alongside Reliability Engineers to improve maintenance systems and asset management. This is a paid, part-time position for the Winter 2027 term, with the possibility of extending through the summer break.
What you'll do#
- Develop and organize asset hierarchies, inventory lists, spare part lists, and job plans for our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Assist with CMMS implementation across work order management, condition monitoring, and procurement.
- Build standardized spare parts lists by reviewing technical documentation, performing physical line walkdowns, and coordinating with vendors.
- Collect and analyze data from our downtime tracking system to identify failure patterns in critical equipment.
- Optimize spare parts to support preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.
- Update our internal document navigation system by identifying and adding assembly drawings and P&IDs.
- Review field labels and drawings to ensure assets are accurately cross-referenced and standardized.
- Build maintenance reports and dashboards.
- Create and update standard operating procedures, work instructions, and training videos.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Chemical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Excel, specifically with lookups and pivot tables.
- Strong critical thinking and organizational skills.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Experience with AutoCAD is an asset.
