About the role#
The Lab Technician Co-Op program offers students hands-on experience in a research and development environment. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to apply your academic knowledge to real-world projects. This role supports laboratory operations through equipment maintenance, routine testing, and improvement projects. The position is for the Winter 2027 term, preferably for a 12-month duration.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine laboratory tests and experiments following standard operating procedures.
- Prepare samples and solutions for analysis.
- Record and report test results accurately.
- Receive samples, enter them into the database, and manage timely shipments.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including reports and procedures.
- Support scientists and technicians in ongoing projects.
- Follow all health and safety protocols.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
What you'll need#
- You are a senior student in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to solve problems and perform analytical tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to occasionally lift materials weighing between 25 and 50 lbs.
- Previous experience in a laboratory environment is an asset.
